Associate General Counsel, Sustainable and Environmental Solutions - Full Time, Hybrid Remote

About the Role:

- Provide legal support to Sustainable and Environmental Solutions business line at S&P Global Commodity Insights
- Collaborate with legal, risk, compliance, commercial, product, and business teams to address ESG and Environmental Registry related matters
- Manage a small team of legal and paralegal professionals

Impact:

- Respond to internal client inquiries and provide valuable support in handling legal and regulatory matters
- Negotiate and draft contracts, respond to RFPs, and assist with special projects related to legal, contract, compliance, risk, communications, and marketing policies and procedures
- Manage a small team of legal and paralegal professionals, providing crucial support to Sustainable and Environmental Solutions and the broader S&P Global Commodity Insights organization

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal support to global Sustainable and Environmental Solutions businesses
- Negotiate, draft, and advise on commercial contracts, product licenses, vendor agreements, and confidentiality agreements
- Respond to RFPs and work directly with internal and external clients in the contract negotiation process
- Assist in developing and communicating policies and procedures related to regulatory, compliance, risk, anti-trust, marketing, privacy, and communications
- Advise on important legal issues facing the Sustainable and Environmental Solutions businesses, including regulatory, antitrust, intellectual property, and trade secrets law
- Manage outside counsel and participate in projects, including due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures
- Advise on legal issues related to new product offerings and provide ongoing support for existing products
- Utilize legal knowledge to manage and mitigate the risk of disputes

Compensation/Benefits Information:

- Anticipated base salary range for US candidates is $146,109 to $252,227
- Eligible for annual incentive plan
- Additional benefits provided by S&P Global

Qualifications/Experience:

- Qualified lawyer with at least 10 years of commercial law experience
- Experience in ESG and the financial and environmental services industry
- Strong knowledge of contract and intellectual property law and understanding of international laws
- Excellent EQ and interpersonal skills, with strong communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Strategic thinker with the ability to instill trust and confidence in team members and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience managing a team
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications and contract database systems
- Project management experience
