Job Title: 2L Summer Associate for 2026
Job Responsibilities:
The 2L Summer Associate at the law firm in Minneapolis will engage in a variety of significant responsibilities during the summer program. The associate will work on challenging client matters and acquire substantive work opportunities across three different practice areas. This role involves close collaboration with attorneys practicing in those areas, allowing the associate to gain practical experience. Key responsibilities include honing legal writing skills, representing pro bono clients, and attending client meetings, depositions, closings, and court appearances. The summer associate will receive formal feedback and mentoring, and participate in seminars and training events hosted by the law firm’s in-house professional development group, Dorsey U. Additionally, the associate will establish meaningful relationships with colleagues and attorneys through professional opportunities, networking, and various social events.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the 2L Summer Associate position should be second-year law students with a strong record of academic achievement. Preferred qualifications include experience in law review, journal, or moot court. The program offers the opportunity to rotate through three chosen practice areas from a diverse selection including Benefits & Compensation, Corporate, Finance & Restructuring, Healthcare Transactions & Regulations, Labor & Employment, Patent, Public Finance, Real Estate, Regulatory Affairs, Tax, Trusts & Estates, Trademark, and Trial.
Salary Information:
The pay for the 2L Summer Associate position is $3,850 per week in Minnesota. It is important to note that this is a temporary position and is not eligible for benefits.
