Job Title: Professional Development Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Professional Development Assistant will play a crucial role within the Talent Management and Human Resources department at the law firm. This position is designed to support and assist in all facets of professional development for both attorneys and the business services team. The responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the Professional Development Team, including Attorney Professional Development, Legal Skills Training, and Business Services Professional Development, as well as the Chief D&I Officer, to support the goals of the team and the law firm.
- Assisting in the coordination of the attorney annual evaluation processes.
- Connecting, tracking, and reporting on various functions such as mentor programs, attrition statistics, and headcount.
- Assisting in the coordination of training programs, academies, and workshops.
- Processing and tracking expense reports and invoices.
- Handling scheduling, drafting invitations and other communications, attendance tracking, preparing materials, and coordinating with conference services, catering, and technology.
- Assuming other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Functions of the Job include having strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments under pressure with tight deadlines is crucial, along with maintaining confidentiality and exercising a high standard of judgment and discretion. Being a team player with excellent internal client service skills is also essential.
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications: The candidate must have at least 2+ years of professional development experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience within a law firm is preferred.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Computer/Software Knowledge:
Required: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications, including Teams.
Preferred: Experience with viDesktop and CE Manager is a plus.
Work Environment:
The current policy at the law firm is a hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office, with the remainder of the week working from home. This policy is subject to change. Overtime may be required as the job duties demand.
Travel Requirements:
There may be a requirement to travel to academies and conferences as needed.
Salary Information:
For California, the pay range is to per hour. In New York and Washington ., the pay range is to per hour. In Illinois, the wage range is to per hour. Eligible benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage, including for dependents and domestic partners. The compensation and benefit information provided is a good-faith assessment associated with this position and is in accordance with applicable local laws such as the New York City Salary Transparency Law, the District of Columbia Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023, and the Illinois Equal Pay Act.
