Business Development Manager, Restructuring
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager, Restructuring, is tasked with leading and implementing strategic business development initiatives to secure new clients and strengthen existing relationships. Responsibilities include:
- Partnering with Restructuring practice leadership, partners, and attorneys to develop and execute business development plans. This includes supporting requests related to research, analysis, pitches, RFPs, and seminars.
- Conducting financial analyses of target companies to identify distress signals and potential restructuring opportunities for client relationship expansion.
- Monitoring market events, trends, and policy changes to identify restructuring or liability management opportunities.
- Preparing reports on business opportunities, restructuring strategies, and legal analysis.
- Assisting with financial analysis for client pitch decks.
- Supporting client meetings and events with research and data analysis.
- Reviewing and analyzing legal documents such as debt documents, restructuring agreements, and court filings.
- Initiating and supporting targeted business initiatives across multiple levels, including cross-departmental opportunities with counterparts in Litigation and Corporate Departments.
- Advising on pitch processes, client service initiatives, and managing client teams.
- Providing research and presentation information for high-level decision-making across industry sectors and geographic markets.
- Tracking competitor activities to identify innovative business development techniques.
- Leveraging the law firm's client base through research and analysis of potential or current client issues.
- Ensuring effective communication and coordination within the Business Development group and with partners and attorneys.
- Supervising project-related activities for administrative staff and external vendors.
Education and Experience Information:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree.
- An MBA or JD is a plus but not required.
- At least 7+ years of business development-related experience in a professional services setting, preferably in a bankruptcy or restructuring-related organization within a law firm.
- Strong financial analysis, modeling, and valuation skills.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and financial software such as CapIQ, Bloomberg, Reorg, and Debtwire.
- Previous experience in legal or professional services administration is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Drive and enthusiasm to work under tight deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
- Proven creativity, resourcefulness, and organizational skills in a large professional services organization.
Salary Information:
The estimated salary range for the position is $160,000 - $170,000. Compensation is dependent on individual skills, experience, and qualifications. The law firm offers a competitive compensation package, including base pay and a discretionary year-end bonus for eligible employees.
