Job Title: Legal Assistant I

Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure the smooth operation of the office at all times.
- Support attorneys in optimizing their legal work time.
- Represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and warmth when interacting with leads, clients, and court officials.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of organizational and client information.
- Assist in improving internal office processes.
- Provide assistance with cases as needed.
- Communicate with clients in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Perform administrative duties, including maintaining office calendars, scheduling appointments, onboarding clients, following up with leads and clients, scanning documents, processing mail, billing, and compiling complex documentation.
- Create and maintain case files both electronically and physically.
- Screen, direct, and prioritize incoming calls.
- Follow up and monitor leads.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PDF, and other technology.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Friendly demeanor.
- Knowledge of online court filing systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of Docketwise case management system is preferred.
- Portuguese language skills are preferred, but not required.
- Law students should not apply.

Salary Information:
- Pay: - per hour, depending on experience.
- Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week.

Additional Information:
- This position is available for both part-time and full-time employment.
- The ideal candidate can start part-time (20-25 hours) and transition to full-time (40 hours) over the summer.
- The position is in-person with the possibility of becoming a hybrid in-person/remote role in the future.
- The ideal start date is mid-June, but this is negotiable.
- A one-year commitment is preferred.
- The work schedule includes 4-hour shifts, 8-hour shifts, and the option to choose your own hours between Monday and Friday.
- People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.
- The ability to commute to Arlington, MA is required.
- Relocation to Arlington, MA before starting work is required.
