Job Responsibilities:
The Summer Associate Program serves as the primary source for new associates at the law firm and is aimed at first-year and second-year law students from diverse backgrounds. The program provides a stimulating and diverse educational experience, allowing exceptional law students nationwide to engage in significant projects. Summer Associates will work closely with the assigning attorney, undertaking tasks similar to those assigned to new associates. The program emphasizes the importance of understanding both prosecution and litigation aspects of intellectual property law, encouraging Summer Associates to explore both areas during their tenure. Evaluations are conducted mid-summer and at the end of the summer to assess progress and performance. Additionally, Summer Associates will participate in a weekly In-House Training Program to gain exposure to various practice areas and are invited to attend monthly practice group meetings and attorney training seminars. The program also includes a range of social events designed to foster professional relationships and friendships.
Education and Experience Information:
The law firm seeks 2L students with degrees in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, life sciences, or related fields. While an advanced degree and industry experience are preferred, a scientific or technical background is not required for those interested in litigation practice. Candidates are preferred to be in the top 25% of their undergraduate and law school classes. Participation in law review or moot court is considered a plus.
Salary Information:
Summer Associates will receive compensation at a rate of $3,500 per week.
