Job Title: Tax Manager, Customs & International Trade

Job Responsibilities:

1. Technical Duties:
- Advise clients on trade issues and opportunities, focusing on import and export matters across various industries.
- Engage in marketing, networking, and business development within the realm of customs and international trade.
- Monitor and apply changes in tax policy related to customs and international trade.
- Assist clients and internal teams in developing strategies and transactions to optimize tax positions, focusing on customs and international trade.
- Conduct research and provide advice on international trade, including the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, NAFTA, entry processes, and customs valuation.
- Identify the need for additional expert resources to assist in proposing tax savings opportunities.
- Develop and maintain work plans for tax consulting projects and assist with the implementation of company tax strategies.
- Formulate and deliver potential trade savings opportunities.
- Collaborate with other specialists and client service teams on client and proposal work.
- Organize and conduct internal CPE training sessions in the area of specialization.
- Establish relationships with customs experts in jurisdictions throughout the company network.
- Identify opportunities for and assist in drafting tax alerts in international customs and global trade tax matters.
- Manage client expectations and perform other duties as required.

2. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day workload of Customs and International Trade Associates, Senior Associates, and Interns on engagements.
- Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete evaluations for Associates and Interns.
- Act as a mentor to Associates and Interns, where appropriate.

Education and Experience Information:

- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Juris Doctorate degree, LLM, and/or MBA preferred.

- Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in import/export trade consulting required, such as roles of customs attorney, customs broker, industry trade specialist, US Customs auditor, or import specialist.

- License/Certifications:
- CPA and/or JD preferred.

- Software:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Experience utilizing RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis required.

- Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and basic legal and tax research skills, including building models and analyzing financial data.
- Solid organizational skills with a focus on meeting project deadlines and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask successfully in both independent and group settings.
- Capable of managing a team of tax professionals and delegating work as needed.
- Capacity for building and maintaining strong relationships with client personnel.
- Ability to interact successfully with professionals at all levels.
- Basic understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities in taxation and law.

Salary Information:

Individual salaries offered are determined after considering multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary range is as follows:

- National Range: $79,800 - $168,000
- Maryland Range: $79,800 - $168,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $79,800 - $168,000
- Washington DC Range: $79,800 - $168,000
