Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Preparing correspondence and pleadings
- Managing calendaring requirements
- Handling filing and motions
- Transcribing correspondence and legal documents
- E-filing in state (MO) and federal courts
- Preparing trial documents
- Typing general correspondence
- Conducting scanning, filing, and copying tasks
- Maintaining attorney time keeping
- Receiving, reviewing, and tracking case correspondence for the practice group
- Scheduling meetings, depositions, and making travel arrangements
Education and Experience Information:
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in a defense litigation firm
- 1 year of experience in asbestos and/or toxic tort preferred
- Prior experience with the litigation process
- Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking abilities in a busy, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Strong proofreading and editing skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet internal and external deadlines
- Self-motivated with an eye for detail is preferred
