Thriving biotechnology and chemical patent prosecution practice seeking a patent attorney or agent to join Wenderoth, Lind & Ponack, LLP (Wenderoth). The position provides opportunity to work on a wide variety of patent prosecution matters in the biological, biotechnology, chemical, and pharmaceutical fields for quality domestic and foreign clients.

The ideal candidate must be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office, have an advanced degree (MS or higher) in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or a related field. Candidates must have three to six years of biotech prosecution experience. Top academic credentials, strong analytical abilities, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well on a team are required. The candidate will focus mainly on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in one or more of the above fields. Duties may also include the drafting and analysis of patent re-examinations and reissues; preparing opinions of counsel, such as validity, patentability, infringement, and freedom to operate; management and direction of foreign counsel; client counseling, particularly in view of recent developments in IP law; and assistance with marketing and client development efforts.
