Job Title: Litigation & Practice Technology Discovery Advisor
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation & Practice Technology Discovery Advisor is responsible for supporting the discovery needs of diverse clients involved in large, complex litigation matters. The role requires managing the entire discovery process from start to finish, under the direction of LPT Directors, the eDiscovery Committee, and other attorneys within the law firm. The Discovery Advisor is tasked with several key responsibilities:
Consulting, Review Support & Project Management Responsibilities:
- Investigate and develop a substantive understanding of assigned legal matters.
- Execute document review projects, including quality checks, fact-development support, privilege review, and logging.
- Summarize review progress and findings, alerting merits counsel to key evidence, detecting deficiencies in collections and productions, and highlighting relevant facts to support investigations and witness kit preparation.
- Consult on the design of managed review projects, supporting workflows, and best use of technology and process.
- Coordinate review team onboarding, training, and management, including drafting review protocols and providing feedback and re-training as needed.
- Define, assess, track, and report key metrics, ensuring reviews are completed on time, within budget, and with appropriate quality checks.
- Coordinate activities and communications related to review work-streams, partnering with internal project managers, analysts, paralegals, and attorneys, setting agendas, and determining project requirements and deliverables.
- Contribute to departmental publications, presentations, and documentation creation. Train and update case teams and the department as required.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support in litigation technology toolsets like Relativity for advanced search design, document review batching, and production workflows.
- Perform final quality control and assurance on deliverables to case teams, clients, and third parties.
- Consult with case team members on the use of customized litigation support apps and tools.
- Support the execution of special projects and apply firm standards in technology and practices as guided by an Associate Director.
Education and Experience Information:
A successful candidate for the Discovery Advisor position should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Consulting, Review Support & Project Management Required:
- Thorough knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and eDiscovery processes.
- At least 7 years of experience in designing and managing complex document review projects, including management of contract attorneys and use of analytics.
- Substantial experience with Relativity and the ability to perform defensible searches and maximize efficiencies in the tool.
- Ability to liaise effectively with multiple case teams, clients, litigation support teams, document review services, and vendors, and develop efficient plans for achieving project goals.
Consulting, Review Support & Project Management - Preferred:
- Experience consulting on best practices related to data collection, privacy, information governance, and security.
- Ability to manage complex litigation and diverse client data from preservation through trial support.
- Experience in training case teams on analytics use and other eDiscovery best practices.
- Significant experience with TAR protocols and conducting legal research is a plus.
Technical - Required:
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience with leading eDiscovery review platforms, focusing on complex search construction and optimized review workflows.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience supporting early case assessment steps and identifying potential data collection gaps.
Technical - Preferred:
- At least 3 years of experience with TAR and other analytics, focusing on deduplication, email threading, review prioritization, and predictive models.

Salary Information:
The base salary range for the Discovery Advisor position varies depending on the geographic location and cost of living considerations. The law firm offers a comprehensive range of flexible benefits, including healthcare, paid time off, and retirement plans, along with personal support and learning opportunities:
Compensation Range:
- Chicago: $155,000 - $180,000
- Washington .: $155,000 - $200,000
- Bay Area: $155,000 - $215,000
