Job Title: Pro Bono Coordinator
Job Responsibilities:
The Pro Bono Coordinator at the law firm will support the Pro Bono Partner and Pro Bono Senior Manager in executing and implementing the firm's Pro Bono Program. Key responsibilities include:
Administrative and Data Management:
- Assist with advertising pro bono opportunities to attorneys and connecting them to referral organizations.
- Maintain an accurate and organized tracking system for pro bono opportunities and assignments.
- Assist with pro bono intake and new matter creation processes.
- Compile and analyze data related to pro bono activities at the direction of supervisors.
- Assist with generating reports and analytics for internal reviews and external reporting requirements.
Event and Program Coordination:
- Provide logistical support for pro bono trainings, workshops, and legal clinics.
- Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, materials preparation, and communication with participants.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Implement pro bono components of broader firm initiatives in collaboration with various departments, such as training, legal recruiting, marketing, and communications.
- Respond to internal requests from departments seeking pro bono information or assistance.
External Collaboration:
- Coordinate with external legal service organizations to schedule and facilitate pro bono projects and events.
- Support client partnerships by assisting in the logistics of pro bono collaborations.
Attorney Support and Resources:
- Provide attorneys, particularly new hires, lateral attorneys, and summer associates, with resources and information regarding participation in pro bono opportunities.
- Assist attorneys with administrative and procedural questions regarding pro bono participation.
Communications and Recognition:
- Assist in internal recognition programs celebrating attorney and staff pro bono achievements.
- Regularly track and share topical news and case results related to pro bono activities with the communications team for PR purposes.
Technology Utilization:
- Utilize firm technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, , and other relevant software tools for tracking, reporting, and administrative tasks.
General Support:
- Provide responsive and proactive administrative support to supervisors.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the firm-wide pro bono program.
Essential Functions of Job:
- Coordinate administrative, organizational, and tracking functions of the pro bono program.
- Plan and coordinate logistics for firm-wide pro bono events and trainings.
- Maintain accurate data and prepare reports.
- Collaborate across departments and with external partners to support program success.
- Proactively support attorney onboarding and ongoing participation in pro bono work.
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- A passion for pro bono work.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience or 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail; prior project or event management experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills, client-service orientation, and ability to interface professionally with attorneys, staff, clients, and external partners.
- Fluency in a second language required, particularly Spanish, French, Dari, Farsi, or Pashto.
- Ability to travel between offices across the country.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a law firm environment preferred but not required.
Education:
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
Computer/Software Knowledge:
Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred: Familiarity with advanced Excel functions and an aptitude for learning about project management platforms, particularly .
Work Environment:
- The current firm policy is hybrid, working in the office a minimum of 3 days per week and working from home the rest of the week (subject to change).
- Overtime will be required on occasion as the workload requires.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 25% travel primarily between California offices for pro bono clinics, conferences, and events, as well as occasional travel to other . offices.
Salary Information:
California: The pay range for this position is to per hour.
