Job Title: Billing Coordinator - Chicago

Job Responsibilities:
The Billing Coordinator at the law firm is tasked with ensuring the timely, efficient, and accurate processing of client billing and electronic billing (E-Billing). This role involves working closely with a designated group of attorneys to facilitate client billing in accordance with established guidelines and attorney requests, all within the firm's policies. Key responsibilities include:

- Creating client prebills and uploading them to the Prebill Manager.
- Reviewing and collaborating on attorney prebill edits and generating client bills in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines and firm policy.
- Identifying unusual situations, gathering information, and escalating issues as needed for assistance.
- Developing and maintaining various reports internally and for clients, including spreadsheets, charts, summaries, and expense backup.
- Distributing invoices via the client E-Billing system, working with E-Billing providers to resolve issues related to uploads, rates, billers, and budgets to ensure a seamless process.
- Becoming an expert on client engagement letters and billing guidelines to prevent delays in billing and collections.
- Reviewing the daily cash report for client payments and application accuracy, identifying reductions, and coordinating with billing attorneys for appeals or write-offs.
- Coordinating client work-in-progress write-downs and accounts receivable write-offs, obtaining the proper approval per policy, and forwarding for processing.
- Organizing and maintaining client billing and instruction files for each billing attorney and client account, implementing recordkeeping methods to boost efficiency and continuity.
- Conducting research and resolving ad-hoc projects and assignments as they arise.

Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

- Five years of experience in legal billing is strongly preferred, or comparable legal experience.
- A comprehensive understanding of all end-to-end aspects of client revenue accounting.
- Experience with Aderant Billing, Prebill Manager, and client E-Billing platforms is strongly preferred; experience with software like BillBlast and other revenue-cycle software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail, along with superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A proactive, inquisitive, and analytical problem-solving approach.
- Ability to collaborate and cross-team with all finance team members, promoting a positive work environment that embraces the abilities of all members.
- Effective client management skills with a record of providing excellent customer service.
- Flexibility and the ability to manage time, organize, and prioritize workload effectively.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the Billing Coordinator position in Chicago is between $65,000 and $75,000. The offered salary will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to, work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
