Job Title: Business Development Manager
Job Responsibilities:
- Identifies, develops, and recommends business strategies to attorneys to enhance existing client relationships within the energy and infrastructure sectors. Manages the creation and execution of new client expansion initiatives. Drafts strategic plans and conducts necessary follow-up activities.
- Oversees business development activities for the team, which includes drafting responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and maintaining marketing materials to strengthen the brand. Reviews and provides recommendations regarding sponsorships and other business development activities upon request. Assists team heads in budgeting and managing business development expenses. Collaborates with Research and Information Services staff and business development professionals on market intelligence initiatives as needed.
- Leads the coordination and preparation of submissions for legal directories such as Chambers USA, Chambers Global Guides, and Legal500, among others.
- Develops and maintains relevant information and document files, including correspondence, raw materials, and background data used in creating expressions of interest and proposals. Maintains a centralized depository for all marketing materials, existing and prospective clients, lawyer expertise, and client proposals. Organizes team business development activities.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: A is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects or processes is required, preferably within a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
- Other Qualifications: Travel may be required. Candidates must be available and willing to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications is essential. A strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork is required. Candidates must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism and act as a catalyst for change, driving and owning results. Creativity and innovation are crucial. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) are necessary, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of professionals. Candidates must demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility, work well under pressure, and possess patience, diplomacy, and high stress tolerance. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to prioritize workload, and adapt to changing conditions are essential. Visual acuity is needed to process and read extensive written communications, and the ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication is required. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning, and memory.
Salary Information:
- The expected salary range for New York-based employees is $145,400 to $231,800, though salaries for employees based outside of New York may differ. Beyond an employment candidate’s physical location, salary offers may be based on several factors, including but not limited to education, training, and/or experience.
