Job Title: Personal Injury Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Answer and direct incoming calls, ensuring effective communication flow within the department.
- Make photocopies and scan documents into legal management software to maintain organized records.
- Draft and send correspondence to clients, including letters of representation, to facilitate clear communication and case progress.
- Call medical providers to obtain balances, ensuring accurate financial records.
- Assist with maintaining files and databases to guarantee accurate documentation and easy accessibility of information.
- Work on accounting matters such as reconciliation, scanning deposits, and printing checks to support the financial operations of the department.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve issues to maintain good relationships and accurate financial records.
- Monitor customer account details for non-payments and delayed payments to ensure timely financial transactions.
- Prepare closing statements to finalize and summarize case financials accurately.
- Check account balances and process disbursements to ensure precise financial operations.
- Assist with scheduling important dates or meetings to ensure proper planning and coordination.
- Support other essential functions of the department as needed to ensure smooth operation and collaboration within the team.
Education and Experience Information:
- Experience with personal injury matters in the DMV area is a plus, indicating familiarity with regional legal processes and requirements.
- Must have an interest in personal injury litigation, reflecting a commitment to the field and its specific challenges.
- Familiarity with general accounting principles is a plus, assisting in financial tasks within the department.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, suggesting a higher education level for effective performance in the role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, is required for efficient document handling and communication.
- Must have previous office experience to ensure familiarity with administrative and organizational tasks.
- Good organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills are crucial for managing multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to work well independently but more importantly as part of a team, ensuring collaborative and efficient workflow.
- Ability to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretion, critical for handling sensitive information and dynamic situations.
- Must be willing to submit to a background check, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Salary Information:
- $7 - $8 an hour, indicating the compensation range for the role.
Additional Information:
- Work Environment: This is a remote position, but candidates must be available to work full-time, Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm (EST), accommodating the needs of the department and ensuring effective collaboration.
