Job Title: Letters Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Letters Specialist is responsible for reviewing a daily worklist to create and send various types of letters to consumers. These letters may include offer and balance letters, closure letters, validation and documentation letters, responses to disputes or fraud claims, judgment letters, and accounting letters. The specialist must ensure the accuracy of the data in each letter and attach all necessary documentation, checks, or court orders. Collaboration with law firm attorneys is required for letter approval before sending.
Additional responsibilities may include cross-training on tasks such as assisting with audits and client document requests, processing inbound correspondence, outbound faxing and mailing, and occasionally substituting for the receptionist.
Primary responsibilities and duties:
- Daily monitoring of worklists to determine which letters need to be printed or corrected
- Accurate file review and letter creation in response to consumer or attorney requests, with appropriate documentation attached
- Tracking letters through the attorney approval process before mailing, ensuring correct naming, saving, and scanning into the database
- Adhering to all applicable Federal and State collection laws and client requirements
Education and Experience Information:
- A high school diploma or GED is required; college education is considered a plus
- Prior experience in collections, banking, editing/proofreading, or legal assistant roles is advantageous
Minimal Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- A keen attention to detail
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem analysis, and sound judgment
- Above average skills in spelling, grammar, and basic math
- Ability to stay organized while managing multiple projects
- Proficiency in using Excel, Outlook, Zoom, and navigating computer databases
Salary Information:
The salary for the Letters Specialist position ranges from $18 to $25 per hour.
