LEGAL ASSISTANT

Job Title: Legal Assistant

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to attorneys within the law firm, specifically in the education and student services practice.
- Manage attorney calendars and coordinate meetings and hearings.
- Frequently interact with clients and their staff via telephone and email.
- Prepare and proofread correspondence and legal documents.
- Organize and maintain filing systems.
- Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, greeting clients, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
- Perform similar or related work as required, contributing to the firm's overall efficiency and client satisfaction.

Education and Experience Information:
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: One (1) or more years of experience working in a law firm, particularly in litigation, though it is not a strict requirement.

Required Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Kofax Power PDF or similar software, and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Willingness and ability to learn different technologies.
- Ability to draft and file legal documents, including discovery requests and responses, pleadings, memoranda, orders, findings of fact and rulings of law, trial documents, witness preparation questions, and mediation memoranda.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Work Environment:
- Daily in-person work at the law firm's office, conveniently located off the Braintree Split (interchange of I-93, US-1, and Route 3 in Braintree, MA).
- Standard work hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.
