Job Title: Defense Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze discovery documents, case materials, and correspondence.
- Draft legal documents including third-party summons and complaints, notices of appearance, discovery responses, discovery demands, subpoenas, stipulations, consents to change attorneys, notice of entry, and other legal documents and correspondence.
- Assist with depositions.
- Obtain and maintain medical and other records.
- Coordinate investigations, expert examinations, and inspections.
- Organize and maintain file documents.
- Assist with motions and preparation of exhibits.
- E-file documents with NYSCEF and PACER.
- Assist with pre-trial and trial preparation.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Paralegal Certificate or degree is required.
- At least three years of experience working at a defense law firm.
- Ability to complete trial preparation work.
- Experience in assisting with court filings and basic motion practice.
- Experience handling a No-Fault calendar.
- Understanding of the court system, including when, where, why, and how to file certain motions.
- Strong research skills.
- Familiarity with NY courts.
- Experience in reviewing medical and accident reports.
- Client contact experience.
- Strong oral and written communication and organization skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task effectively.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in Prolaw is a plus.
- A Notary Public license is a plus.
Salary Information:
- The salary range is $50, – $70, per year, commensurate with experience.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule available at this time, though the schedule is subject to change.
