Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Responsibilities:

Research:
- Identifies situations requiring research and conducts thorough investigations.
- Confirms accuracy of facts and sources.
- Prepares studies on tax implications and outlines alternative strategies for clients.
- Composes effective research memos and develops presentations for marketing and sales.

Tax Compliance:
- Ensures clients' compliance with applicable authorities.
- Identifies options to minimize client tax and reporting burdens.
- Communicates risks to partners and ensures firm risk management and quality control standards are met.
- Completes appropriate workpapers and tax return forms.
- Communicates with clients and relevant personnel regarding issues.

Tax Consulting:
- Develops and implements solutions to maximize clients' tax benefits.
- Stays informed of legal and factual developments affecting clients’ tax accounting methods.
- Identifies and assists in maximizing potential tax accounting methods benefits.
- Identifies process improvements in identifying, documenting, and supporting STS Accounting Methods on exam and appeals.

Tax Controversy:
- Represents clients before tax authorities.
- Responds to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities regarding tax accounting methods.

Tax Specialization:
- Develops an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues regarding tax accounting methods.
- Identifies client opportunities and issues related to tax specializations other than accounting methods.

Strategy Development:
- Develops new strategies to advance client and firm positions.
- Suggests marketing approaches for new client acquisition.

Marketing and Business Development:
- Exhibits thought leadership in Tax Accounting Methods.
- Works with Specialized Tax Services and Tax Accounting Methods Partners to develop marketing plans.
- Builds go-to-market strategies and delivers presentations to pitch service capabilities.
- Prepares proposals, statements of work, and engagement letters.
- Works on special projects to develop practice efficiencies or improve processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises and reviews the work of STS Accounting Methods Senior Associates and Associates.
- Ensures team members are well trained and evaluates their performance.
- Provides performance feedback and acts as Career Advisor to team members.

Education and Experience Information:

Education:
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Juris Doctorate (.) preferred.

Experience:
- Seven or more years of prior Federal tax client service experience required.
- Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals required.
- Prior experience with accounting methods preferred.
- Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions preferred.
- Prior experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships preferred.

License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ("EA") required.

Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word preferred.
- Experience with tax-related software and research databases preferred.
