Job Title: Bilingual Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents, letters, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under attorney supervision.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, aiding with client meetings, submitting motions, researching legal publications, and coordinating witnesses.
- Order, review, and summarize medical records for preparing factual responses to discovery.
- Negotiate liens, medical bills, and settlements with providers or insurance companies.
- Organize and review files for important transactions and documents, and prepare documents to aid in attorney review of case files, including pleadings and discovery documents; work within the law firm's Case Management Software and Database to properly document all activities, facts, and events in a case.
- Communicate with clients secondary to intake staff to ensure criteria are met and that the client has a prosecutable case, and once the case is filed, field communications from clients with questions about their case’s progress.
- Assist in preparing for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and conferences, completing many administrative tasks.
- Manage assigned docket (calendar) and maintain an organized filing index within the law firm's Case Management Software.
- Maintain client confidentiality through proper documentation and maintain good working relationships with clients, attorneys, and insurance companies.
Education and Experience Information:
- Must be bilingual in Spanish.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or associate’s degree in paralegal studies (with paralegal certificate) preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience working as a paralegal required, with prior experience in a litigation-focused role preferred.
- Proficient at using Microsoft Office suite (including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Filevine (Case Management Software) and general computer aptitude is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills required.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of Personal Injury case management.
- Able to maintain professional relationships through excellent interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
