Immigration Paralegal I The candidate will assist the Senior Paralegals and Attorneys with the management of corporate immigration cases and client interactions. Independently handle cases and will begin to teach and mentor others. Legal document preparation and management, research, and case management require knowledge of the legal system, terminology, and procedures in addition to clerical and administrative skills. Under the direction of Senior Paralegal/Attorney, takes lead in email/phone client communications. Provide guidance to assignees regarding proprietary systems and case processing. Increased understanding of client communication procedures and requirements. Input client services rendered and send to Accounting for processing. Complete competence of case types previously handled and continually strives to advance and broaden knowledge base; demonstrates increasing levels of independence in case handling. Process more advanced and varied corporate immigration cases. Evaluate cases, relays concerns, and proactively escalate to the appropriate firm team members(s). Prepare forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review; adapts tools and resources for casework that deviates from templates; increases knowledge of the firm's best practices. Manage the status of all filed applications and petitions and finalize documents after attorney review. Utilize document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework as per the firm policy. Prepare internal caseload reports for management. Share process flow with assignees. Identify problematic cases and discuss strategies and/or solutions with Attorney. Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, standard processing times, etc. Initiate contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information; alert Senior Paralegal and/or attorney regarding potential process delays/problems.
The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree with 1-year of law-related experience under a licensed attorney; or, a PL certificate from ABA approved program and 1+ years of high-volume . corporate immigration experience; comfortable and able to thrive in an extremely high volume environment; demonstrate sound judgment; ability to execute and work well with minimal supervision; strong attention to detail and ability to catch errors and correct work and the work of others; superior client service skills; effectively able to prioritize cases, caseload and other assigned tasks (. projects, company management responsibilities, etc.); ability to meet deadline and goals; MS Office, Scan/Copy; learn, apply and effectively navigate daily use of propriety software.
