Job Title: Litigation Paralegal - Intellectual Property Disputes
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal for Intellectual Property Disputes at the law firm will be responsible for providing comprehensive project assistance and case management to attorneys and trial teams. The primary duties include:
- Maintaining documents and databases, analyzing data using computer-assisted review technologies.
- Assisting with the service of discovery requests and document productions.
- Drafting, proofing, editing, and filing court briefings and supporting exhibits.
- Cite-checking and using Bluebook for briefs, memoranda, expert reports, etc.
- Creating Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents for court briefings.
- Assisting with invalidity and infringement contentions and related productions.
- Supporting claim construction briefing and preparing for Markman hearings.
- Calendaring all events and deadlines with the Calendaring Department.
- Tracking and communicating case-related dates and information.
- Assisting with deposition logistics and preparation.
- Preparing witnesses and creating direct- and cross-examination binders.
- Assisting with pretrial submissions, including exhibit lists, deposition designations, and trial briefs.
- Managing trial logistics, including electronic courtroom set up and demonstratives.
- Attending daily trials and logging/tracking exhibits.
Education and Experience Information:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of litigation paralegal experience is necessary.
- Experience with USPTO Patent Center and the ability to obtain patents, prosecution histories, and prior art is essential.
- Familiarity with patent terminology and citations is crucial.
- General knowledge and experience with e-filing procedures in US District Courts nationwide are required, with a focus on Illinois, California, and Texas.
- Experience with cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), International Trade Commission (ITC), or Federal Circuit is a plus.
- Management of trial preparation, logistics, and presentation is vital.
- The ability to multitask and manage case management and trial preparation in a fast-paced team environment is necessary.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required; understanding of litigation support systems such as Case Notebook, Relativity, and Sanction is strongly desired.
- Proofreading and editing skills are a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
Salary Information:
For positions in Orange County, California, and Seattle, Washington, the salary range for this job posting is $64, - $103,. For positions in San Francisco, California, and Silicon Valley, California, the salary range is $67, - $107,.
