About the Role:
As the Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory, you will be responsible for providing high-quality legal analysis and judgment to support all aspects of our activities in the consumer finance industry. You will serve as a trusted advisor and partner to our business teams, providing legal support for new products and services, training and advising on consumer finance laws and regulations, and drafting and negotiating business agreements. Additionally, you will monitor and analyze regulatory developments and collaborate with our compliance team to ensure risk management and operational readiness. You may also manage other legal team members and support them in their responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver strategic and tactical legal support for all aspects of our activities in the consumer finance industry
- Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to business teams, advising on new products, training on consumer finance laws, and drafting and negotiating business agreements
- Monitor and analyze federal, state, and local regulatory developments and ensure operational readiness
- Partner with the compliance team to manage internal and external compliance reviews and examinations
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and ensure consistent interpretation and application of legal requirements
- Support other matters in alignment with LendingClub's strategic objectives
- Assist the Legal Department with other delegated assignments
Requirements:
- . from an accredited law school and licensed, in good standing, in one or more states to practice law
- At least 10 years of combined law firm, government, and/or in-house legal department experience
- At least 8 years of experience in consumer finance law and regulations, with a preference for in-house experience at a bank, credit union, or fintech
- Demonstrated experience advising on consumer finance laws and regulations such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, BSA/AML, EFTA, TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM, FDCPA, UDAAP, and GLBA
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment and thrive on innovation and change
- Comfortable in a legal support role that extends beyond advice to hands-on execution and implementation
- Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
- High level of integrity and ability to have candid conversations with business leaders in support of legal positions
Work Location and Schedule:
- Locations: San Francisco, Lehi, or New York
- Schedule: Hybrid schedule with in-office hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
- Time Zone Requirements: Local hours (PT, MT, ET)
Travel Requirements:
- Travel for work may be required and LendingClub will cover related expenses
