Job Title: Attorney IV Senior Prosecutor

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Prosecutor is responsible for performing advanced prosecuting attorney work and serving as a team leader within the Enforcement Division. Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborating with department staff to ensure effective management of the prosecution workload and timely completion of joint assignments and projects.
- Leading a team of prosecutors by providing oversight, supervision, guidance, and direction to ensure adherence to department and division policies and procedures.
- Mentoring and guiding prosecutors to ensure consistency in the application of laws and rules, and keeping them informed of policies and priorities set by the Chief Prosecutor, Director of Enforcement, and Executive Office.
- Managing a caseload that includes cases under all program statutes, coordinating and advising on the preparation of legal documents, selection of violations for enforcement cases, presentation of cases in administrative hearings, and negotiation of settlement agreements.
- Reviewing the work completed by prosecutors and providing feedback to ensure high-quality work.
- Training new prosecutors with oversight and approval from the Chief Prosecutor and assisting in developing and delivering training programs.
- Assisting the Chief Prosecutor in monitoring prosecutors’ workloads, compiling and analyzing productivity statistics, and establishing targets for measuring success.
- Assisting in monitoring attorney performance, preparing annual performance appraisals, ensuring compliance with personnel policies, and managing work schedules, attendance, and leave.
- Assisting in the hiring process for attorneys, including screening applications, conducting interviews, evaluating results, and checking references.
- Participating in maintaining and revising procedures, policies, and priorities for the Prosecution section.
- Completing special projects as assigned by the Chief Prosecutor and Director.
- Reviewing investigative reports related to complaints and deciding on case resolutions.
- Conducting legal research and advising investigators on evidentiary analysis and investigation avenues.
- Collaborating on Anti-Trafficking efforts, aiding in training and presentations related to Human Trafficking.
- Representing the organization in enforcement cases in administrative hearings, presenting evidence and making oral arguments.
- Preparing a variety of legal documents related to enforcement cases.
- Attending meetings and presenting staff reports and agenda items related to enforcement.
- Educating regulated industries and the public about relevant laws, rules, and enforcement actions.
- Reviewing drafts of laws and rules affecting agency programs and preparing cost estimates and bill analyses for proposed legislation.
- Complying with division policies and procedures and demonstrating teamwork and effective communication.

Education and Experience Information:
- Graduation from an accredited law school with an . or . degree.
- Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Five years of litigation experience required.
- Administrative or criminal prosecution experience preferred.
- Experience as a supervisor or team lead preferred.
- Completion of leadership or management training programs preferred.
- Military Occupational Specialty Codes related to legal fields may meet minimum qualifications.

Salary Information:
- Yearly Salary: B28- $105,000- $110,250

Remarks:
The successful candidate will possess knowledge of administrative law proceedings, the Administrative Procedures Act, Texas Rules of Evidence and Civil Procedure, and laws administered by the organization. They should have skills in logic, reasoning, computer software, office equipment operation, public speaking, and effective communication. The ability to supervise, develop policies, manage multiple tasks, and maintain effective relationships is essential. Excellent communication skills and a leadership style that motivates productivity are also required.
