Job Title: Lateral Intake Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Lateral Intake Manager is responsible for overseeing the intake process for lateral attorney candidates at the law firm, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience from initial contact through onboarding. Key responsibilities include supervising and managing a team of four lateral team members, which comprises Conflicts, Background, and New Business Intake employees. The manager is tasked with ensuring ongoing training for all team members and conducting analyses of all lateral requests for the firm to ensure potential conflicts have been identified and cleared in their pre-hire onboarding. Other responsibilities include reviewing reports compiled by the Conflicts team for accuracy and compliance with firm standards, compiling conflict reports from the firm's conflicts database for attorneys and conflicts counsel to review and clear, and interfacing directly with firm employees, partners, associates, legal administrative assistants, Practice Group Chairs, and General Counsel.
The Lateral Intake Manager must handle multiple projects at once, pivot between urgent requests and projects while supervising the team, and lead and assist with large and complex special projects requiring reviewing large amounts of data. They are responsible for ensuring accurate records are maintained of requests for potential audits, recruiting, hiring, new employee training, and development. The manager must analyze information and perform research, manage third-party software/platform relationships, and ensure that the team is up to date on software best practices and updates. Additionally, they ensure accurate reporting of data from the conflicts database to other departments, including finance, records, and IT, and conduct regular audits of the conflicts database. The manager is also responsible for completing the day-to-day tasks for entering requests in the intake system in preparation for a conflict search, processing the daily workflow for new firm clients and matters into the firm's systems, providing accurate information based on new client and existing client conflict searches, coordinating the pre-onboarding and onboarding process for all lateral attorneys and other lateral employees, and preparing intake forms for onboarding of lateral attorneys' clients/matters. They must also perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of related Conflicts/Intake experience and a minimum of 4 years of supervisory/management experience. A Bachelor's Degree is required, while a Paralegal Certification is preferred but not mandatory. A Master's degree or Juris Doctor is also preferred but not required. Candidates should have experience with Microsoft Office Suite and a working knowledge of Conflicts/New Business Intake database tools such as Elite, Intapp, 3E, Aderant, or similar software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, accurate typing skills, proficient computer skills, and familiarity with legal terminology and business practices are required.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Lateral Intake Manager position is $83,000 to $120,000, with the actual salary based on experience and job qualifications. The position offers a discretionary holiday bonus and benefits including Paid Time Off, Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, a 401k Profit Sharing Plan, and a Transportation Program. The job is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule from Monday through Friday and extended hours as needed.
