Job Title: Business Development Manager - Cyber, Privacy and Data Innovation
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager for the Strategic Advisory & Government Enforcement (SAGE) business unit at the law firm will play a crucial role in enhancing the firm's market presence and driving revenue opportunities. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Collaboration: Working with the Communications and Business Development teams to deliver thought leadership, thereby solidifying the firm's reputation and facilitating client engagements.
- Pitch Development: Assisting partners in creating pitch strategies and developing differentiated value propositions that align with market and sector capabilities.
- Content Creation: Leading the drafting of marketing collateral, presentations, bespoke pitches, and RFP responses, and assisting attorneys with content drafting as necessary.
- Client Engagement: Supporting SAGE partners with strategic in-person or virtual pitches, providing guidance on best practice approaches.
- Market Intelligence: Collaborating with Research and Business Intelligence teams to share market insights and identify revenue opportunities.
- Database Management: Ensuring the collection and maintenance of attorney experience and client information in the firm's experience database.
- Event Coordination: Providing input on events, sponsorships, and CLEs in collaboration with the Events team.
- Internal Communication: Communicating SAGE stories internally, cultivating cross-selling opportunities, and overseeing a library of key data points and metrics.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Business Development Manager position should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years in marketing or business development, preferably within a legal or professional services environment.
- Leadership: Ability to coordinate cross-functional project teams and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Strategic Decision Making: Exceptional judgment and decision-making capabilities with a strategic mindset.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Conflict Resolution: Highly skilled in resolving conflicts and handling challenging interpersonal situations with diplomacy.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Problem Solving: Outstanding ability to analyze complex workstreams and develop efficient mitigation strategies.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with firm marketing systems; proficiency with generative AI tools is a plus.
- Education: A four-year college degree or equivalent experience is required, with an MBA preferred.
Salary Information:
The expected salary range for the Business Development Manager position varies depending on the location:
- California Major Markets: $101,000 - $180,000
- New York City: $116,000 - $180,000
- National: $91,000 - $153,000
The level of pay within these ranges will depend on various job-related factors, such as qualifications, relevant experience, education, particular skills or expertise, and geography. Additional compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus based on both firm and individual performance.
