Job Title: Litigation/Domestic Relations Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides exceptional client service by greeting guests, responding to work requests, scheduling meetings, and conducting telephone conferences.
- Offers proactive administrative support for Litigation attorneys and paralegals and may assist in other practice areas as needed.
- Maintains a strong attention to detail and upholds strict confidentiality of all matters and information.
- Manages requests with urgency and effectively prioritizes workload.
- Interacts professionally with court personnel, attorneys, and staff to obtain and provide data, answer questions, and resolve issues.
- Prepares and reviews letters and memoranda in accordance with firm standards using word processing and document management systems.
- Monitors deadlines proactively.
- Processes requests for payment and reimbursements.
- Manages client contacts, emails, and print documents, and processes mail.
- Communicates clearly and professionally in a concise manner.
- Transcribes dictation and eFiles in various courts, including circuit, federal, and bankruptcy courts.
- Drafts documents and filings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Preferably experienced with Kofax/Nuance, InTapp, LMS+, iManage, Bighand, or their counterparts.
- Knowledgeable about the litigation process and general court operations.
- Capable of reading and identifying pleadings and other litigation-related documents.
- Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions from diverse individuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to carry out instructions provided verbally or in writing.
- Basic arithmetic skills for calculating dates.
- Ability to perform essential duties with high competency and occasionally work more than 40 hours per week.
Education and Experience:
- Over 3 years of litigation legal assisting experience in a law firm or other legal setting.
- Education beyond high school or coursework related to the legal industry is preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex litigation-related documents.
