K&L Gates, a global law firm, is seeking a talented Data Architect to join our IT Department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with departments, design data structures, and create infrastructure to support business objectives. We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering and a background in computer science, statistics, or applied mathematics.

Key Relationships:
- Report to the Data Scientist and work closely with the Global Information Technology Teams
- Establish relationships with other departments, IT peers, IT architects, directors, executives, and external vendors
- Work with cross-functional teams from Business Development, Finance, HR, Reporting, and Records

Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with data stakeholders to understand the Firm’s data sources and enhance the firm’s data strategy
- Serve as a member of a high-performing data team to support business decision capabilities
- Develop and maintain data architectures, standards, and strategies
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of data pipelines
- Participate in requirements gathering process and integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Ensure consistency and interoperability across the technology landscape
- Conduct regular performance assessments and create comprehensive documentation
- Design and implement data insight products and services
- Collaborate with other elements of the firm’s data function
- Serve as a solutions expert and stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies
- Design the data platform and enforce data governance and security policies
- Work with the quality assurance team to assist and define testing efforts

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and engineering teams

Experience Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
- Expertise in managing large-scale Azure big data solutions
- Proficiency in coding or scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Scala, R, SQL
- Ability to acquire and assess data from various sources
- Experience in systems and solutions that comply with global data handling and regulatory standards
- Knowledge of data modeling tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other tools
- Understanding of the legal industry
- Experience in delivering cross-functional projects
- Knowledge of KCS methodology
- Applicable industry certifications in Data Science/Engineering
- Experience in influencing and collaborating with multiple departments/business units
- Familiarity with distributed systems and organizational structures
