Job Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The role of the Paralegal/Legal Assistant involves a wide range of tasks that support the legal team in handling cases, particularly in the areas of real estate law, business law, litigation, and appeals. The main responsibilities include:
- Reviewing legal cases and identifying key parts for documentation purposes.
- Managing documents by copying, sorting, collating, indexing, and organizing them as per instructions.
- Conducting problem-solving tasks, which may include research via Google searches and applying creative thinking skills.
- Filing legal documents appropriately.
- Proofreading documents and suggesting necessary revisions.
- Drafting letters and other written communications as needed.
- Handling administrative tasks such as running credit card payments, answering phone calls and taking messages when necessary.
- Managing business social media accounts with an understanding of best practices.
- Copying and scanning documents as needed.
- Assisting in event organization.
This position also offers the opportunity to gain exposure to business litigation and real estate law, learn how to navigate cases, and improve legal research skills. The candidate will work closely with an attorney who has over 30 years of experience in the Nevada legal system, allowing for professional growth and the chance to expand the scope of the role through innovative problem-solving and project completion.
Education and Experience Information:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
- Candidates must have at least one year of experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience in Las Vegas as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary is preferred, especially if interested in paralegal work.
- The candidate should have a client-service mindset and must be willing to undergo on-the-job training.
- The ability to perform legal research and take direction well is essential.
Salary Information:
- The position is full-time, offering a pay rate starting from $20 to $25+ per hour, depending on experience (DOE).
- Benefits include paid time off.
- The work schedule consists of an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday.
- The work location is in person.
