Job Title: Employment Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
The Employment Counsel will be an integral part of the company's Legal and Compliance team, working closely with the Global Head of Employment Law and the Human Capital Management (HCM) team. The primary responsibilities include advising on legal aspects related to employment matters, managing multiple time-sensitive projects, and collaborating with internal firm clients. Key duties involve:
- Assisting the Global Head of Employment Law in advising the company's global HCM business partners and team on employment law issues, employee relations, communication materials, policies, procedures, handbooks, benefits, compliance, and internal investigations.
- Drafting and negotiating employment agreements and separation agreements, including restrictive covenants.
- Providing and coordinating training on employment best practices and anti-harassment, and educating the HCM team on various employment matters to enhance their self-sufficiency.
- Managing outside counsel and advisors in connection with employment matters.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Employment Counsel position are expected to have:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top-tier law school with strong academic performance.
- Active membership in the District of Columbia or New York bar, depending on office location.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience, ideally from a major law firm or as in-house counsel with a focus on employment matters.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational skills, and a logical/analytical approach.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority requests in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team and managing external advisors.
- Familiarity with the private equity or financial industry is preferred.
- Global experience is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Salary Information:
The compensation for the Employment Counsel role is specific to Washington, DC, and New York, NY, considering factors such as required skills, experience, training, and certifications. The anticipated base salary range is $190,000 to $230,000. In addition to the base salary, the position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits, and wellness programs. The hired professional may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive program based on individual and organizational performance.
