Job Title: Director of Information Technology
Job Responsibilities:
The Director of Information Technology at the law firm is responsible for leading and managing the technology department, which includes workflow developers, application developers, systems administrators, systems analysts, help desk technicians, and third-party technology vendors. The key responsibilities include:
- Leading the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships.
- Developing technology standards and practices that adhere to internal and third-party mandates and ensuring ongoing adherence.
- Tracking, analyzing, managing, and achieving technology performance related to the IT team, projects, systems, software, and equipment.
- Managing and maintaining the law firm’s complex virtualized network across its geographic footprint.
- Developing and mentoring the IT team and identifying areas of opportunity.
- Joining the firm’s Executive Management Team and being the spokesperson for all matters concerning the technology department.
- Taking the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity.
- Keeping abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape.
- Looking for opportunities to simplify designs, operations, and deployment plans while ensuring performance, agility, and scalability.
- Maintaining quality of service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Maintaining near 100% network uptime across all critical systems and applications.
- Obtaining a general overview of all other departments within the firm and being able to function and communicate effectively among them to deliver business analysis.
- Preserving assets by implementing disaster recovery and backup procedures as well as information security and control structures.
- Managing third-party vendors related to information systems and technologies.
- Maintaining network systems and all forms of network storage.
- Managing and enforcing industry-leading data security and retention practices.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- AWS experience is preferred.
- At least 8 years of IT management experience.
- At least 8 years of IT project management experience.
- At least 8 years of network engineering experience.
- At least 4 years of virtualization experience.
- At least 4 years of network performance tuning.
- At least 4 years of maintaining IT systems in a cloud environment.
- SQL experience.
- Hands-on experience with implementation, design, monitoring, and troubleshooting in large-scale distributed systems and networks.
- Experience and understanding of automation and infrastructure-as-code.
- Sharp assessment skills with the ability to decipher “wants” versus “needs” and comfortable negotiating prioritization accordingly.
- Experience driving project teams, identifying milestones, and tracking deliverables.
- Self-organized and experience driving cross-functional efforts with external teams.
- Ability to see a problem or opportunity, take ownership, and act on it independently.
- Experience working with Mitel and telephone integration with call recording and other third-party applications is a plus.
- Law firm experience is a plus.
- Claims platform experience is a plus.
- Experience with commercial legal software is a plus.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Director of Information Technology position is $100, to $160, annually.
Travel:
This position requires up to 10% travel, excluding local intra-office commutes.
