Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager in the Accounting Methods group is responsible for helping companies optimize their federal tax accounting methods. This includes handling aspects like IRC 263(A) capitalization, depreciation accounting methods, expense acceleration, and revenue deferral. The role involves identifying federal tax benefits and correcting federal tax exposures for both public and private companies in various industries such as technology, manufacturing, healthcare, architecture/engineering services, and consumer products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough research on tax implications and preparing studies to outline alternative courses of action for clients.
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable authorities and identifying options for minimizing client tax and reporting burdens.
- Developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to provide clients with maximum tax benefits.
- Representing clients before tax authorities and responding effectively to inquiries regarding tax accounting methods issues.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues regarding tax accounting methods.
- Developing new strategies to advance the position of clients and the company, and suggesting marketing approaches for new client acquisition.
- Exhibiting thought leadership and recognized as an industry go-to person in Tax Accounting Methods.
- Working with partners and business development managers to develop and execute effective marketing plans and strategies.
- Supervising and reviewing the work of Senior Associates and Associates, ensuring they are well-trained and delivering periodic performance feedback.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Tax, or Finance.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Juris Doctorate (.) preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of seven years of prior Federal tax client service experience is required.
- Prior experience in supervising tax consulting professionals is required.
- Experience with accounting methods, tax provisions, corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries offered are determined after considering numerous factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The national range for the position is $99,750 - $262,500, with the same range applicable for Maryland, NYC/Long Island/Westchester, and Washington DC.
