The University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law) is seeking to hire three tenure-track faculty members to join their mission-driven community in the 2024-2025 academic year. They are looking for candidates with an interest in teaching Evidence, but welcome applications from aspiring faculty and junior lateral candidates in other areas as well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach assigned courses in the JD or LLM programs
- Stay current on software and technology used in the classroom
- Conduct research and publish scholarly work
- Keep up-to-date with developments in the relevant field
- Evaluate and grade students' work
- Maintain student attendance and academic records
- Advise and mentor students
- Collaborate with colleagues on teaching and scholarship issues
- Participate in grant proposals and external research funding
- Serve on academic or administrative committees
- Assist with student recruitment and placement activities
Minimum Job Requirements:
Assistant Professor of Law:
- . degree and member in good standing of the Bar of the District of Columbia or other state
- Potential for teaching excellence and scholarly growth
- Demonstrated professional competence in relevant field
- Initial appointment without tenure for up to three years
Associate Professor of Law:
- . degree and member in good standing of the Bar of the District of Columbia or other state
- Demonstrated teaching excellence and record of scholarship
- Demonstrated professional competence and potential for continued growth
- At least three years of full-time teaching experience at an accredited law school
