The law firm of Shumaker is seeking a talented and experienced ERISA/Benefits Attorney to join our team. With over 5 years of experience in employee benefits law, this individual will have the opportunity to engage in sophisticated and challenging work for clients nationwide. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of retirement plans, health and welfare plans, Taft-Hartley benefit plans, and executive compensation. This is a salaried position with competitive compensation and excellent benefits, and can be based in any of our offices in Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC; Akron, Columbus, or Toledo, OH; Minneapolis, MN; or Sarasota or Tampa, FL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in sophisticated and challenging ERISA work for clients nationwide
- Manage complex case assignments and communicate effectively with clients
- Conduct research and writing tasks with superior skills
- Utilize technology, including practice management systems and online databases
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong project management skills
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active bar license in the state where the candidate will work
- 5+ years of professional ERISA law practice experience
- Strong technological skills
- Superior research skills
- Project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit in a static position for up to 30 minutes at a time
- Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally, for up to one hour per day
- Bending and stooping occasionally, for up to 30 minutes per day
