Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal is tasked with supporting attorneys through a variety of responsibilities centered around case management and client communication. The role involves:
- Investigating and researching facts relevant to cases and preparing necessary documents to assist attorneys.
- Managing cases accurately and ensuring timely communication with both clients and attorneys.
- Obtaining, reviewing, and organizing medical records to support case facts.
- Conducting insurance coverage investigations to ascertain relevant details for cases.
- Preparing, calculating, and maintaining summaries of damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage.
- Logging daily mail and managing correspondence related to case management.
- Preparing and forwarding medical records to insurance carriers as part of the case process.
- Drafting necessary correspondence to support case management.
- Verifying balances and assisting with the resolution of subrogation liens.
- Preparing check requests, maintaining check records, and mailing checks as required.
- Assisting attorneys with settlement documentation and the disbursement of funds.
- Preparing disbursement summaries to ensure accurate financial management.
- Maintaining consistent and regular communication with clients regarding the status of their cases.
- Producing weekly reports and participating in monthly team meetings.
- Providing support for team members in their absence and aiming to meet or exceed set goals.
- Maintaining regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
- Performing other duties as assigned, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
Education and Experience Information:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- A paralegal certificate is also required, indicating specialized training in legal procedures.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, which may provide additional skills and knowledge beneficial to the role.
- The position requires 3-5 years of relevant work experience, demonstrating a background in legal practices and procedures.
