Senior Labor Counsel - Legal Advice and Representation Role at MTA Headquarters

MTA is seeking a Senior Labor Counsel to join their team at their headquarters in New York, NY. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation on labor relations matters for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and its affiliates and subsidiaries. This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $126,833 - $146,835 and 890 Hay Points.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice and representation to MTA HQ, MTA Agencies, and senior staff on various labor and related matters.
- Advise on contract negotiations and help develop strategies for increasing organizational effectiveness and efficiencies.
- Work closely with agency labor relations teams to review and coordinate MTA's position on proposed legislation.
- Ensure consistency in labor policies and agreements during consolidations and identify and resolve potential conflicts.
- Prepare bulletins and instructional materials for MTA management and agencies to navigate applicable rules and working conditions.
- Work with outside counsel on labor relations matters and oversee major labor disputes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong litigation and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze complex legal and labor contract matters.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications.

Education and Experience:

- Juris Doctorate Degree required.
- 8-10 years of experience in labor law or labor relations.
- Direct involvement in labor contract negotiations and managing litigation.
- Ability to manage complex matters concurrently.
- Excellent legal and labor relations skills.
