Job Title: Litigation Associate

Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Associate will be responsible for handling various aspects of general commercial litigation. Key duties include:
- Drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery documents.
- Drafting and arguing motions in court.
- Taking and defending depositions, including those of expert witnesses.
- Engaging in research and writing tasks essential for litigation processes.
- Participating in trial preparation and potentially attending trials, although trial experience is considered a plus and not a mandatory requirement.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess a degree and must be licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and either Virginia or Maryland. The position requires 2 to 4 years of experience in general commercial litigation. Experience with a large law firm is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong research and writing skills are essential.
- A solid academic record is required.
- Candidates should have comprehensive experience in general commercial litigation processes.
- The ability to draft and respond to pleadings and discovery is necessary.
- Proficiency in drafting and arguing motions is expected.
- Experience in taking and defending depositions, including expert depositions, is required.
- While trial experience is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The role is primarily based in a clerical, office setting where standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers are routinely used. The job involves sedentary work, requiring exertion to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Sitting is required most of the time, though walking and standing are often necessary to perform job duties. The position demands close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $210,000 and $242,500 in Washington, DC. This range reflects various factors considered in compensation decisions, including experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position.
