The successful candidate will provide clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact checking; and trial preparation. This position is based in Houston, TX 77002 and offers a salary between $40,000 - $60,000 a year. Job Responsibilities: * Meeting with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects. * Drafting legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; filing motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures. * Researching and analyzing statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; providing written analysis to attorneys. * Interviewing clients and witnesses and preparing summaries of their statements. * Preparing, organizing, storing, and retrieving case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items. * Assisting attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings (may require in-state travel). * Developing and maintaining records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases. * Performing other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements: * Bachelor or Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred. * Paralegal certificate preferred. * Some related experience preferred. * Courtroom experience preferred. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Adaptable to changing priorities and work assignments; must be able to multi-task. * Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. * Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment. * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. * Proficient with Zola Suite n/k/a CARET Legal, NetDocument/ndOffice, PCLaw, TimeMatters or other billing and document management software.
