Job Title: Billing Specialist

Job Responsibilities:
The Billing Specialist at the law firm is tasked with managing the billing process for client invoices, ensuring that they are prepared in the required format. Key responsibilities include:

- Editing prebills for time and disbursement transfers, time splits, on account transfers, and adjustments.
- Printing, sorting, and distributing prebills to billing attorneys and forwarding drafts or final invoices for further edits.
- Maintaining accurate and current client billing addresses.
- Entering necessary billing exemptions by the cutoff date and maintaining their status through month-end.
- Monitoring and managing approvals for write-offs and monthly billing exemptions.
- Accurately entering alternate rates into the computer system.
- Providing attorneys and legal support staff with requested billing statistics, using and formatting Excel spreadsheets.
- Effectively managing communication with attorneys to ensure billing deadlines are met.
- Submitting, processing, and tracking invoices while resolving billing issues via electronic and web-based platforms.
- Communicating effectively during monthly check-in meetings with the billing manager to provide updates on timekeepers’ Work in Progress and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Responding to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seeking feedback or follow-up as appropriate.

Education and Experience Information:
- A college degree is preferred, but candidates with an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform essential duties are also considered.
- A minimum of three years of law firm billing experience is required.
- Previous experience with Aderant/CMS is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to clearly communicate in both written and oral form with professionals and clients regarding billing issues.
- Outstanding customer/client service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to represent the department professionally and positively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure and balance multiple competing priorities.
- Capability to produce high-volume, computerized document edits in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills to provide high-quality service and partner effectively with diverse groups at various levels within the firm and external contacts.
- Ability to self-manage and work independently in a hybrid and in-office setting.

Salary Information:
The hiring salary range for the Billing Specialist position is $50, to $70,. Compensation depends on various factors such as position, location, education, training, and experience.
