Job Title: Corporate Counsel, Employment Law
Job Responsibilities:
The Corporate Counsel, Employment Law position involves a multifaceted role where the successful candidate will act as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on problem solver within the Legal Department. The key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a trusted legal advisor to HR professionals and business managers, providing advice on multi-jurisdictional employment laws. This includes areas such as wage/hour compliance, leaves of absence, accommodations, drug testing, background screenings, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Advising HR professionals on emerging legislative and regulatory changes impacting employment and labor obligations, particularly in multi-jurisdictional operations.
- Reviewing and revising internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulations.
- Developing and delivering proactive training programs for business leaders on various employment law matters.
- Providing legal representation and/or supervising outside counsel in employment litigation, government agency charges, audits, and investigations, as well as handling attorney demand letters and claims related to employment issues.
- Drafting and negotiating employment-related documents, including separation agreements and restrictive covenant agreements.
- Partnering with and advising HR professionals on internal investigations, compensation, ERISA, and immigration matters.
Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for the position of Corporate Counsel, Employment Law, the candidate must fulfill the following educational and experience requirements:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- A minimum of six years of experience practicing employment law, whether in-house or with a national or regional law firm.
- Significant experience in identifying employment law risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. The candidate should also be adept at providing practical, timely, and solution-oriented advice and counseling to business clients at various organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions and develop practical solutions that mitigate legal risks while aligning with business objectives.
- The candidate should be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and willing to assume significant responsibility commensurate with their experience in employment law.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills are essential, as the role requires fast-paced multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and manage multiple issues involving business partners in various locations.
- An active license to practice law in at least one state and the ability to become licensed as in-house counsel in Florida is required.
- The candidate should possess empathy, excellent professional judgment, and a good sense of humor.
- Occasional travel may be required for this position.

- Experience with labor, employee benefits, and/or compensation matters is considered a plus.
