Job Title: Business Development & Marketing Director – Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development & Marketing Director for the Litigation department at the law firm plays a critical leadership role. This position involves collaborating with practice group leaders to expand cross-selling initiatives and bring market-focused strategies to clients. The director is responsible for instilling a proactive and disciplined approach to project management and collaboration within the team. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a thought partner and project manager to set strategic goals, implement changes, and improve internal communications.
- Collaborating with lawyers to identify and package offerings in response to legislative and regulatory developments and market trends.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team to advance strategic goals and priorities for Business Development and Marketing.
- Leveraging market intelligence to pursue new targets and grow existing client relationships in alignment with firm strategies.
- Designing effective go-to-market strategies with marketing and communications team members.
- Utilizing CRM and other technologies to track leads, pipelines, and measure ROI.
- Creating connections between practice groups, sectors, and client teams.
- Working with the Pursuits & Directories team to create compelling content and pitch responses.
- Improving approaches to directories and awards to enhance brand position.
- Collaborating on strategic events that align with go-to-market strategies.
- Managing annual budgets to support key client and prospect initiatives.
- Fostering a culture of strategic collaboration to expand business within existing and new clients.
- Leading strategic planning for the practice group.
- Ensuring directory and award submissions are top-notch.
- Contributing to department goals and projects like CRM, training, and onboarding.
- Collaborating with sector and key client team colleagues to share best practices and broaden relationships.
- Setting agendas for leadership meetings.
- Working with Recruiting and Practice Group Directors to identify and integrate talent from a Business Development perspective.
- Assessing and enhancing marketing technology systems with Marketing Operations and Innovation colleagues.
- Using AI to create efficiencies in work product.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Preferred Education:
- Master's Degree
Minimum Years of Experience:
- 10+ years of Business Development experience, preferably in a leading litigation and/or investigations law firm.
Desired Skills:
- Extensive experience in identifying and driving cross-selling initiatives is essential.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and flexible approach.
- Strong understanding of litigation, particularly in Business and Commercial Litigation, White Collar and Investigations, and Product Liability, Mass Torts, and Class Actions.
- Success in client development, professional services marketing, and people management.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to interact with senior executives and lawyers.
- Ability to develop rapport and gain respect across all organization levels.
- Strategic thinker and problem solver with a growth mindset.
Salary Information:
The expected hiring range for this position at the law firm is $229,360 - $353,889 per year, depending on the candidate’s geographic market location.
