Job Responsibilities:
The Sr. Coordinator, Communications at the law firm plays a crucial role in the Business Development & Communications Department. This position is instrumental in implementing strategic and innovative initiatives to enhance the visibility of the firm and its attorneys. Key responsibilities include:
- Tracking and monitoring daily media coverage to ensure the firm stays informed about relevant developments.
- Researching, writing, and distributing the weekly “Weil in the News” newsletter to highlight significant firm activities and achievements.
- Creating content for the “View from the Top” newsletter and the “Quarterly Benchmarking Report” to provide insights and updates on the firm’s progress and industry standing.
- Collaborating with the Recruiting, Inclusion, and other Administrative teams to produce engaging communications that support their objectives.
- Assisting in writing and disseminating firm press releases, news items, and deal announcements in real-time to ensure timely communication.
- Maintaining firm press lists to ensure communications reach the appropriate contacts effectively.
- Formulating ideas for media and byline article pitches to enhance the firm’s public profile.
- Developing integrated external communications plans in collaboration with colleagues to support strategic initiatives.
- Coordinating legal directory research, acting as a resource for information related to legal directories, research guides, and ranking organizations.
- Scheduling and coordinating attorney interviews with directories’ personnel and tabulating results from directories for year-to-year analyses.
- Maintaining a calendar of upcoming deadlines and researching new opportunities for awards and rankings.
- Partnering with Business Development colleagues to develop content for various uses, including award nominations, website announcements, and marketing materials.
- Completing research assignments related to media coverage of specific topics and articles by key reporters.
- Taking on special projects and additional related responsibilities as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, with a high GPA preferred.
- The role requires substantive experience in PR, communications, or marketing, preferably within the legal industry.
- The candidate should possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with all levels within the firm.
- Articulation, strong influencing and persuasion skills, and a superior ability to collaborate cross-functionally are essential.
- The role demands excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, as well as the ability to handle and monitor multiple projects regularly.
- A good understanding of media requirements and deadlines is necessary.
- Impeccable attention to detail and a creative flair are important.
- The candidate should have an understanding of website architecture, functionality, and limitations, and an aptitude for quickly understanding new technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other publishing software is required.
- Being a superior team player with a positive attitude, high energy, drive, determination, and a collaborative nature is vital.
- Previous experience working in a legal or professional services environment is highly preferred.
Salary Information:
The estimated salary range for the Sr. Coordinator, Communications position is $80,000 - $95,000. Compensation decisions within this range depend on various factors, including the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications.
