Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal will provide essential support to insurance litigation attorneys in the Boston and New York offices. The primary responsibilities include:
- Supporting attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, including initiating suits, managing discovery processes (including eDiscovery), preparing court submissions, and assisting in trial, post-trial, and appellate procedures.
- Assisting in the preparation for hearings and depositions by conducting document reviews, drafting pleadings and discovery documents, and preparing declarations and supporting exhibits for filings and e-filings.
- Managing both electronic and physical documents and war rooms, coordinating large-scale document collections, reviews, and productions with attorneys.
- Reviewing and tracking a high number of dockets and news articles.
- Conducting research, particularly concerning corporate entity history.
- Assuming additional responsibilities as requested.
- The role requires 60% in-office presence, with 40% remote work permissible.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of litigation experience is necessary, with a preference for insurance experience either in a law firm or in-house at an insurance company.
- Experience with state and federal litigation is required.
- Preferred experience includes federal, state, and administrative trial experience through verdict, as well as mediation and arbitration experience.
- Familiarity with insurance policies, forms, and language is advantageous.
- Knowledge of document management and review software such as iManage, Relativity, TextMap, inTapp, PACER, and CourtAlert.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills are required.
- The candidate must demonstrate excellent attention to detail and the ability to execute tasks through to completion.
- Creative problem-solving skills, reasoning ability, and logical thought processes are required.
- The ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing demands, and meet various deadlines is crucial.
- The candidate should demonstrate the ability to professionally interact and collaborate with colleagues at all levels, work independently, and function as part of a team.
- Outstanding customer service skills and an enthusiastic, proactive, and positive attitude are necessary.
- The ability to handle confidential matters with discretion is required.
- The candidate must be self-motivated to produce quality work and possess a high level of integrity and honesty.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, are required. The ability to quickly master new applications and software is critical.
- Flexibility to work overtime when necessary is expected.
