PIP Attorney, Insurance Defense
Job Responsibilities:
As an insurance defense attorney within the personal injury protection (PIP) unit, the candidate will be part of the motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing legal representation to insured clients and/or the insurance company before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation.
- Handling cases from inception to resolution.
- Preparing legal pleadings, motions, statements, and trial briefs.
- Engaging in settlement negotiations.
- Collaborating closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely litigation reports.
- Leveraging all appropriate defenses to achieve positive outcomes.
- Analyzing written discovery, depositions, and medical records.
- Assessing the value of claims to determine risk exposure.
This role involves occasional travel to an office for meetings and/or training, and candidates must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the office they support.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM) is required.
- Admittance to practice law in New York is mandatory.
Salary Information:
- The compensation range is $114,030 – $171,600 per year.
- Eligible for a Gainshare bonus up to 30% or 40% of eligible earnings, depending on experience level, based on company performance.
