Job Title: Senior Staff Attorney Insurance Defense
Job Responsibilities:
- Handle complex and high exposure litigation, focusing primarily on cases in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties.
- Analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conducting extensive, well-reasoned legal research.
- Independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of a variety of clients.
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs to support defense strategies with minimal supervision.
- Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims partners in a technology-driven environment.
- Communicate respectfully with the Court, clients, claims partners, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel, consistent with established office procedures and professional standards.
- Ensure the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings, and alternative dispute resolutions.
- Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts on behalf of clients.
- Provide opinions to Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice in New York State, with admission to practice in federal courts being a plus.
- Member in good standing of the NY Bar Association.
- Minimum of 10 years of insurance defense legal experience.
- Documented first chair jury trial/appellate expertise.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize duties and time.
- Strong communication, computer, and technological skills, with the ability to quickly leverage new . tools.
- Demonstrated expertise and familiarity in handling claim cases and litigation.
Salary Information:
- The annualized base pay range for this role is $128,000 - $192,000.
- Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role.
- The base pay is one component of the company's total compensation package, which may also include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
