Job Title: Criminal Clerk Court Case Manager 1 (41-4016)
Job Responsibilities:
The role of the Court Case Manager 1 within the Fairbanks Criminal Division of the **Members Only** involves a variety of duties focused on customer service and case management, specifically for criminal and minor offense cases. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing case files for court proceedings, including examining new case filings for compliance with rules and statutes and preparing files for arraignments and other hearings.
- Managing minor offense cases and processing other criminal cases, including summons, dated citations, and petitions to revoke probation.
- Expediting the processing of signed bench warrants, returned summons, governor's warrants, and processing cash bonds for defendants.
- Monitoring and processing various bins such as warrants bin and after-arraignment bin; handling fax/copy machine operations.
- Processing judgments and closing cases, reviewing and processing requests for court-appointed attorneys, and handling incoming documents and routing them appropriately.
- Providing exemplary customer service to court patrons, assisting customers at the public services counter and by phone, and providing information on court cases, forms, procedures, and records without giving legal advice.
- Reviewing new cases and pleadings for compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
- Entering case information and docket entries in CourtView and recognizing documents requiring priority action.
- Managing individual cash drawers, accepting payments for bail, court-imposed fines, surcharges, restitution, and judgments, and applying money to the correct court case.
- Preparing case files and documents for microfilming and assisting other departments as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for the position of Court Case Manager 1, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- One year of office clerical experience.
- The ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).
Substitutions are allowed as follows:
- Additional office clerical work experience can substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
- Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours from an accredited college can substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
- Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills can substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
Salary Information:
The salary for the position of Criminal Clerk Court Case Manager 1 is per hour. The position is classified under range 10, and employees may be eligible for promotion to salary range 11 after the successful completion of three years of service with the court.
Additional Information:
- The position is full-time, scheduled to work hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 . to 4:30 . with a one-hour lunch break.
- The position is open to all applicants and is part of the Exempt Judicial bargaining unit.
- Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency or applicants with prior legal work experience or education in the legal field may receive consideration for advance step placement.
