Job Title: Credit & Collections Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Credit & Collections Manager at the law firm plays a vital role in enhancing the productivity and success rates of outstanding days within the accounts receivable (AR) cycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting senior management in implementing strategies to improve AR cycle efficiency.
- Consulting with management and appropriate staff on complex collection and deduction situations that require extraordinary efforts to resolve.
- Coaching and mentoring supervisors and team members to ensure their professional development and success.
- Coordinating, collaborating, and consulting with billing attorneys, staff, and other department heads to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the department.
- Resolving disputes, issues, and concerns that arise on an ad hoc basis between staff and others.
- Observing and monitoring interactions between staff and others to ensure compliance with the firm’s policies and regulations.
- Supervising, coaching, and evaluating the performance of the team, and providing guidance and training as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- At least five years of management experience within a legal and/or professional service environment is preferred.
- A proven track record of success in supervising AR processes and team management is essential.
- Strong project management, analytical, and time management skills are required.
- Knowledge of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, California laws, and legal processes is necessary.
- Experience using collection management systems is required.
- Expertise with various types of accounting software platforms is expected.
- The ability to travel as requested for team visits, special projects, and conferences is necessary.
