Job Responsibilities:
The Pricing Manager at the law firm is tasked with advancing and executing the firm's pricing and rate-setting strategies. This involves managing a pricing analyst and overseeing the firm's competitive intelligence platforms and data. Key responsibilities include supporting firm-wide and market-specific pricing and value strategies, partnering with lawyers and professional staff across the firm to develop, implement, and monitor innovative pricing solutions, including alternative fee arrangements (AFAs). The role also includes providing significant support with the firm's annual rate-setting process, encompassing data analysis, modeling, data visualization, and developing and preparing statistical support for rate increases and pricing structures.
The Pricing Manager collaborates closely with members of the Client & Innovation Office, attorneys, leadership, Finance, Marketing, and other operations teams to deliver critical information and analysis regarding pricing structures, rates, and related competitive intelligence data. This position is essential in managing and monitoring competitive intelligence data and presenting complex data clearly and concisely. The duties and responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the firm's use of and investments in competitive intelligence and legal pricing resources, surveys, and platforms to ensure updated and accurate legal market rate and pricing data.
- Providing critical support in the firm-wide rate-setting process through robust internal and competitive intelligence data analysis.
- Supervising Pricing Analysts, setting project priorities, directing data analysis and competitive intelligence reports, encouraging process improvement, and advising on impactful data visualizations and presentations.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic pricing offerings and scenarios, utilizing statistical modeling to determine potential impacts.
- Supporting responses to client requests and RFP responses for AFA arrangements and pricing solutions by providing data analysis, visualizations, and effective communications.
- Developing tools, templates, and processes to streamline pricing support across the firm.
- Supporting the creation and maintenance of documents and presentations on pricing requirements, procedures, best practices, offerings, and resources.
- Assessing internal and external data to gain insights into trends and opportunities at market, practice, and experience levels to support and advance the firm's strategic rate-setting and pricing processes.
- Managing third-party competitive intelligence vendor relationships and setting expectations regarding data scope and validation.
- Analyzing market trends, competitive pricing structures, and legal service fees to inform the firm's pricing strategies and offerings.
- Staying informed on legal pricing analysis methods and industry trends, and reporting on pricing and rate structure trends across markets and practice areas.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in legal/professional service pricing and/or pricing analytics is necessary.
- Experience with competitive intelligence data is essential.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required.
- The role demands excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to synthesize, interpret, and summarize information clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are needed for cross-departmental collaboration.
- The ability to multitask, organize, plan, and meet deadlines is crucial.
- Attention to detail is vital.
- Analytical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to changing demands and work well in a fast-paced environment, are required.
- Knowledge of relevant software programs (., Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and databases, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems, is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with and understanding of law firm structure and financial analysis is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is advantageous.

- Experience in legal pricing strategies, budgeting, and alternative fee arrangements is preferred.
