Overview:

GEICO is seeking a Senior Counsel to support its commercial transactions and provide legal guidance for the company's insurance distribution. This role involves collaborating with the sales and distribution teams to understand their goals and plans, providing legal advice on achieving objectives, and identifying potential risks and opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background and experience in insurance, E-commerce, or sales of regulated products.

Responsibilities:

- Understand key business objectives and ensure compliance with applicable insurance regulations while driving towards business success
- Serve as lead attorney for one of the distribution teams and anticipate future legal needs
- Collaborate with the contracts team to negotiate and draft commercial agreements
- Provide legal guidance on marketing materials related to third-party distribution of insurance
- Coordinate support from other parts of the legal department for assigned business units
- Use legal knowledge to identify and mitigate potential risks in business decisions

Requirements:

- Minimum 8 years of legal experience, preferably with 6 years specifically advising on insurance, E-commerce, or sales of regulated products
- Law degree and active law license in the United States
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to understand and provide legal advice on business plans and processes
- Excellent judgement in identifying legal risks and opportunities
- Solution-oriented mindset with experience solving business problems

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience drafting and negotiating partner agreements
- Success in working on novel and emerging issues
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvements and assist in implementing solutions

Location:

Hybrid - This position requires the individual to work 2-3 days onsite at one of GEICO's locations in Chevy Chase, MD, Cleveland, OH, or New York, NY.

Salary:

The annual salary range for this role is $135, - $260,. The final salary offered will depend on factors such as the scope of responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
