Job Title:
Junior Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist legal and administrative personnel within the Litigation Department with a wide variety of clerical, administrative, and litigation-related tasks.
- Provide crucial support to attorneys and staff handling complex litigation matters to ensure smooth case management and efficient workflow.
- Index and summarize client files, productions, and other electronically stored documents, and manage their delivery by downloading, troubleshooting, and organizing these materials.
- Prepare and draft routine correspondence, memoranda, and emails related to litigation cases.
- Assist with litigation-specific tasks, such as preparing discovery responses, organizing exhibits, and compiling case materials.
- Maintain and update physical and electronic case files, including pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
- Conduct basic document review, perform light legal research, and assist with e-discovery processes.
- Coordinate and schedule litigation calendars, including court appearances, depositions, and deadlines.
- Reserve conference rooms and prepare materials for litigation-related meetings and conferences.
- Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial binders, organizing evidence, and coordinating logistics.
- Perform additional duties as required, including providing support to other departments and law firm offices as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- Two years of experience working in a professional organization.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certification experience is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of litigation processes and terminology, with the ability to support attorneys in managing case-related tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation.
- High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced litigation environment.
- Highly motivated, self-starter who can work well under minimal supervision and take a proactive approach in being team oriented.
Technology:
- Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with litigation support software, case management platforms, and e-discovery tools is a plus.
- Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
