Job Title: Sr. Manager, Benefits & Compensation
Job Responsibilities:
The Sr. Manager, Benefits and Compensation at the law firm is a critical role within the Human Resources department, tasked with designing, implementing, and managing the firm's benefits and compensation programs. This position ensures compliance with legal regulations while aligning with the firm's objectives to attract, retain, and motivate top talent. The Sr. Manager will lead a team, collaborate with various departments, and support employee satisfaction and retention. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and administering the benefits and compensation framework for a large, complex employee group across over 60 locations, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic objectives.
- Executing and maintaining ongoing comprehensive market analysis and benchmarking studies to establish competitive compensation and benefits packages, providing strategic recommendations to firm leadership.
- Overseeing the operational management of . employee benefit programs, including group health insurance, defined contribution retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other perks.
- Designing and managing international benefits and compensation schemes to ensure competitiveness and regulatory compliance across all firm locations outside of the United States.
- Ensuring all programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations such as FLSA, ERISA, and ACA.
- Formulating and revising policies related to compensation and benefits, ensuring clarity and compliance.
- Leveraging compensation and benefits analytics to monitor retention trends and deploying proactive strategies to mitigate turnover.
- Developing and implementing communication strategies to educate and inform employees regarding benefits and compensation.
- Leading and mentoring a team of Benefit and Compensation professionals, providing guidance and support.
- Facilitating training sessions for HR team and other managers on compensation policies and benefits offerings.
- Overseeing relationships with benefits providers and negotiating contracts to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Performing other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for the Sr. Manager, Benefits and Compensation position should meet the following educational and experiential requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required, while a Master's degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in benefits and compensation management, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with high emotional intelligence.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a high-performing, high-volume work environment.
- Advanced knowledge of compensation and benefits regulations and best practices.
- Proficiency in structuring salary bands, pay scales, and incentive programs.
- Advanced knowledge of health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced knowledge with human resources information systems and compensation tools for data management and analysis.
- Thorough understanding of laws such as FLSA, ERISA, ACA, with global regulations knowledge being a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advise, influence, and build credibility at all levels.
- Demonstrated high attention to detail coupled with advanced critical thinking skills to proficiently analyze complex situations and deliver workable solutions.
